It’s a Wonderful World. . . .
I’ve lived in so many beautiful places that sometimes it’s difficult to choose a design for my blog due to the various influences I’ve experienced in each place. Well, over the weekend, with Mother’s Day and all, I must have been a bit homesick and felt like changing the theme of my blog. As I mentioned in a previous post, changing the look and feel of your company is never a good idea, so I decided to just add a new blog with a picture of my hometown. This image was taken during my last trip to Germany. It shows the Rathaus (City Hall), located right on the Marktplatz in the middle of my hometown. Growing up, I never realized how beautiful Germany really is; but I guess as we get older the appreciation for nature and beauty grows.
When I was growing up, my family travelled all over Europe, which involved many hours of sitting in the car. My sister and I would sit in the back, reading, playing, sleeping, eating, while my mom sat up front and admired nature. She would point out to us the mountains, the lakes, the ocean, the fields, the differences in nature as we arrived in a new area/country. As children, my sister and I couldn’t understand her fascination with any of it. Now my children sit in the back seat during our travels and listen to me admiring the beauty of nature as we drive to our destination and I realize that they, like me when I was their age, cannot understand the fascination. It is almost comical how history repeats itself.
Every place I’ve visited or lived in has its special moments for me and I miss all of them. In the end it doesn’t really matter where you live, as long as you make the best of what nature, your neighborhood and community has to offer!
A good friend and client of mine just posted “A Perfect Day!”, and it’s an inspiring story. The story takes place in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, where I spent almost 20 years of my life. If you have a moment, you should read it – it’ll not only make your day but inspire you to enjoy the simple pleasures of wherever you are currently living!
As I get (a bit) older, it gets more and more difficult to decide where I would like to retire eventually and I can only hope that there will be lots of travelling involved! In the meantime, I’ll just keep adding an entry about travel every so often. . . .
